Web Collection Plus
Web Collection Plus provides access to the Gardner Public Library online catalog.  Our collection includes over 30,000 books, 1300 audio books, and 1400 videos.

A new series for juvenile readers(grades 4-6)is THE 39 CLUES BOOKS. These eleven books are written by authors like Gordan Korman, Margaret Peterson Haddix and Rick Riordan. Readers can use clue cards or the internet to solve the mysteries.

Another recommended group of books for 4-6 grade readers is Margaret Peterson Haddix's SHADOW CHILDREN series. There are seven books in this intense series. Lincoln Pierce has written two more in his BIG NATE series. The latest books at the library are BIG NATE OUT LOUD and BIG NATE AND FRIENDS.

New adult regular print nonfiction are: THE TIME OF OUR LIVES by Tom Brokaw, GABBY by Gabrielle Giffords and Mark Kelly, IN THE GARDEN OF BEASTS by Erik Larson, and IN MY TIME by Dick Cheney. New adult regular print fiction books include:ZERO DAY by David Baldacci, V IS FOR VENGEANCE by Sue Grafton, KILL ME IF YOU CAN by James Patterson, THE FIFTH WITNESS by Michael Connelly, EXPLOSIVE EIGHTEEN by Janet Evanovich, EVIDENCE by Jonathan Kellerman and THE BOURNE DOMINION by Eric Van Lustbader.

LIBRARY SWEETHEART STEAK DINNER

The library will be having their annual fund raiser to support the children's summer reading program. The steak dinner will be Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Sidelines Restaurant 206 Main Street in Wakefield, NE. Registrations may be made for 5:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. by calling Sidelines at 1-402-287-2957. Adult meals are $18.00 and meals for children are $8.00. Beverages are not included.

WAKEFIELD COMMUNITY CLUB

Gardner Library will be hosting the Community Club on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. Special guests from the Nebraska Library Commission will be in attendance to tell about the BTOP Technology grant which the library received. Come see the computer technology which is available to all our friends and patrons. It will be a celebration! Come in anytime to use our computers.

OVERDRIVE PARTY

On Wednesday, February 8, 2012 the library will be hosting an Overdrive Party from 6:30-8:00 p.m.This party is open to any patrons who have a Kindle, Nook, iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch. The process of using the Overdrive will be discussed with all people in attendance. The attendees will then break into three groups, Kindle, Nook and iPad users. In these groups the people will share ideas about their devices.Bring you laptop and e-reader so that you can practice and learn from each other.
